Hoodoo Man is a blues & roots one-man-band based in Montreal, Canada.
His style is firmly rooted in seminal country blues traditions. Hoodoo Man’s repertoire covers songs from blues patriarchs the likes of Charlie Patton and Blind Boy Fuller, to those of the contemporary singer/songwriters such as Tom Waits, J.J. Cale and Chris Smither. Whether he is belting out classics or his own compositions, his unique style and delivery comes through, as he takes each song and makes it his own. He sings, stomps his bass and snare drums or home made stomp board, plays slide and finger style guitar, and rack harmonica, all a the same time, creating a juke joint atmosphere where ever he performs.
Hoodoo Man was first conceived in 2010 by Montreal bass stalwart, Mike Reilly, as a means of expressing his passion for acoustic, and rustic urban blues. The subsequent transformation was that from supportive, rhythm section, sideman to an energetic, multi-instrumentalist, solo performer. Since creating Hoodoo Man he has performed regularly in cafés and bars around the Montreal area as well as a number of blues festival appearances in 2011. Hoodoo Man has become a project of growing import for his creator, as he writes and performs his own original songs while he reinvents the classics that inspire him the most.
A truly unique performance that is not to be missed!
